Rescuers pulled out one more body from debris where a six-storey under-construction apartment block had crashed into a same-height, occupied structure in Greater Noida near Delhi on Tuesday night, taking the toll to nine. Police have arrested five people for criminal negligence. Officials said 12 construction site workers were feared trapped and rescue operations were on.

Meerut Divisional Commissioner Amita C Meshram, told by the Uttar Pradesh government to probe the case, visited the site on Thursday and said that no offenders would will go unpunished.

“Rescue operations are likely to end by Friday, around 100 National Disaster Rescue Force personnel are working in shifts in scientific ways,” the officer said.
