The incident happened in the city's Sector 26, near grain market, when a portion of an under construction wall of the building's basement caved in, they said, adding that it led to collapse of entire building. Six labourers working in the building were killed and rescue teams have pulled out at least 12 workers from the rubble and shifted them to a local hospital, they added.

Efforts were still on to rescue around eight labourers believed to be buried under the debris, police said, adding the area has been cordoned off.
