Budget Session of Parliament: Congress walks out of BAC meeting over govt's 'undemocratic' ways

Accusing the Centre of resorting to 'undemocratic' means by not holding any discussions or debates in the House, the Congress on Thursday walked out of a meeting of the Lok Sabha's Business Advisory Committee (BAC).
The BAC meeting, held inside the chambers of Speaker's chambers, saw the attendance of leaders of some parties. It was convened to discuss the agenda for the business to be conducted in the coming week.
Congress leader and deputy chief whip of the party in the Lower House KC Venugopal walked out of the meeting, accusing the government of stalling customs of the House. "The Government was hell bent on passing bills without any discussion, and is neither interested in amicably settling the issues in the House in a democratic manner," Venugopal said in a statement.
The Congress MPs have been protesting that the government has not discussed the PNB scam.
Proceedings in the House were adjourned in the last leg of the Budget Session with opposition parties presenting their demands in the House.
Venugopal said that the Congress had agreed to cooperate in the passage of the legislations.
