BSP workers on Saturday held a protest in Khalilabad area of the district against alleged lack of cleanliness around a statue of Bhimrao Ambedkar at the Mehdaval Crossing in Sant Kabirnagar town of Uttar Pradesh.

The BSP workers, who had reached the Mehdaval Crossing to garland Ambedkar's statue on the occasion of his death anniversay on Saturday, got agitated on seeing lack of cleanliness all around and sat on a dharna in protest, affecting vehicular traffic for sometime, police said. They were, however, pacified by the police which rushed to the spot, they said.

District Magistrate Prakash Bindu said the matter would be probed and action would be taken against those found guilty.
