The BSP on Tuesday said that the incident involving an ex-MLA’s son brandishing his gun inside a Delhi hotel did not reflect badly on the party.

“He is neither a leader nor a member of the BSP,” said party leader Sudhindra Bhadoria, while speaking on the incident involving Ashish Pandey, the son of Rakesh Pandey.

A video of Ashish Pandey, a resident of Lucknow, brandishing a gun at Grand Hyatt in New Delhi went viral, prompting a police inquiry. Delhi police assured that they would speak to the Lucknow police and take immediate action.

The hotel, too, issued a statement , saying that the ‘safety and security of their guests was of primary concern.’

“We take the incident seriously & have been working with the local police authorities on the same,” the hotel said in a statement.

The hotel, however, has not explained why its staff did not intervene or call the cops immediately and let Pandey drive off. However, an official spokesperson clarified that the incident did not occur inside the premises but in the porch and the guy got the gun from his vehicle after the car was brought by the valet.

Meanwhile, Delhi deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has also called for a thorough investigation asking why this was allowed inside a five-star hotel. “Law and order is no one's priority. Priority is to frame AAP MLAs in fake cases. The day law and order is made priority, it'll be on right track. It's a 5-star hotel in VIP area; how did this happen?” he asked.

Earlier, Delhi police on Tuesday said it was in touch with the Lucknow police and, adding that Ashish Pandey, the son of former BSP MLA Rakesh Pandey, will be arrested for brandishing a weapon outside a five-star hotel in the national capital on October 14.

“We have asked the 5-star hotel authorities why they did not report the incident to the police,” said Spl Joint CP, Delhi.

The incident that occurred on the intervening night of October 13 and 14 came to light after the video clip of the brawl went viral.

In the video clip, Pandey is seen dressed in black t-shirt and pink trouser. Soon, he whips out his gun, which looks like a mauser and threatens a couple standing on the porch.

Sensing trouble, some unidentified person tries to intervene and calms him down. One can notice his female friends also joining in abusing the couple and instigating him. Pandey is heard saying ‘Lucknow se hoon,’ and ‘dekh loonga’ while getting inside his BMW parked near the porch. Meanwhile, the Delhi Police has registered a case under the Arms Act.
