Landline, broadband and mobile services were affected due to the deluge that claimed over 280 lives. Although mobile services and landlines in some parts of the city were restored within a fortnight, the city centre and the business hub of Lal Chowk continued to suffer even after that.

"It is a perfect New Year gift from BSNL that our phones started ringing again. We faced many problems in conducting business because the services were hit," Pawan Gupta, who runs business on posh Residency Road, said.
