BSF personnel stages protest at India Gate
Gurmail Singh demanded that an inquiry be held into the alleged acts of corruption by officers posted on the frontier with Bangladesh.
NEW DELHI: A BSF personnel on Saturday staged a protest at the India Gate against the alleged involvement of the force's officers in acts of corruption and smuggling.
Gurmail Singh marched holding the tri-colour in one hand and a chopper in another, demanding that an inquiry be held into the alleged acts of corruption by officers posted on the frontier with Bangladesh.
BSF chief A K Mitra said several cases of indiscipline had been registered against Singh. He, however, said Singh would be "given a chance to speak" on the issues raised by him.
"First we will question him and inquire about the main incident (which prompted Singh to protest)," Mitra told a TV channel.
