Thirty-eight passengers in a boat were stranded due to engine failure in the middle of Narmada River near Bharuch on Tuesday. All passengers were shifted to other boats, called from Hansot and Dahej for help, and were brought to the bank safely. The passengers, engaged in Narmada Parikrama, boarded a local boat at 7 am to cross over to the other side. They wanted to visit the sangam of Narmada and Arabian Sea. While the boat was in the middle of the river, its engine stopped working following a technical glitch. Despite repeated attempts, the crew members onboard couldn’t fix the problem.Meanwhile, the boat got carried away by the tide and moved deeper into the sea. This frightened the passengers, including the crew members, who then immediately informed their colleagues at Hansot.A boat from Hansot and another from Dahej were sent to the place where the boat had stopped. The rescue boats steered in the opposite direction and brought the passengers to safety. No casualties were reported in the incident.
