BJP Vice President says party has 'smaller talent pool'; later backtracks
In an interview to Reuters, BJP Vice President Vinay Sahasrabuddhe said that PM Modi wants to expand his ministry, but can't find right replacements.
After BJP Vice President Vinay Sahasrabuddhe stirred up a controversy by saying that the BJP has a 'smaller talent pool', he has now backtracked from it claiming that he was 'misquoted'.
In an interview to Reuters, Sahasrabuddhe said, "The challenge is to identify the right candidates who can deliver fast-paced reforms and policies in their work sphere. Compared to the Congress, we have a smaller talent pool and less exposure, but it's only a matter of time that we expand our base."
He also added that "Modi has embarked on the process of fine-tuning the government machinery and also send a concrete signal that inefficiency will be checked."
But now, speaking to CNN-IBN, Sahasrabuddhe said that he has been misquoted. "I said that Congress was in power for more time that's why they have more experienced people. There is absolutely no dearth of talent in BJP and my point was only about lack of exposure," CNN-IBN quoted Sahasrabuddhe.
