The families of UP Chief Minister Mayawati and BSP general secretary Satish Chandra Mishra are partners in a scam involving black money of over Rs10,000 crore, alleged BJP leader Kirit Somaiyya.
The BJP leader said Saturday that a web of at least 300 shell companies had been formed in the name of Mayawati’s brother Anand Kumar and family members of Mishra for money laundering. He said that the documents related to this scam had been sent to the Ministry of Company Affairs, the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Board of Direct Taxes.
A few days ago Somaiyya had handed out documents relating to over a hundred fictitious companies floated in the name of Mayawati’s brother and his wife.
Somaiyya alleged that Anand Kumar and SC Mishra’s 20-year-old son Kapil Mishra had formed dozens of fictitious companies since 2007 to hide the black money cornered in various scams. “The total number of such benami companies could cross 300 and the amount involved could be over Rs 10,000 crore,” Somaiyya alleged.
Reacting to the charges, a BSP spokesman said that these were “rantings of a demoralised party which had lost all hope of winning” the Assembly election. “It is pathetic that the BJP needs leaders from other states to fight its battle because its state leaders are neck deep in corruption.”
