The Chandigarh unit of BJP today protested against price rise, accusing the Centre of failing to curb black marketing and illegal hoarding of essential commodities. A large number of protestors gathered at several places and demonstrated against "sky-rocketing prices of essential commodities".Several party activists tried to enter the prohibited area around Punjab Raj Bhawan to hand over a memorandum to Chandigarh Administrator Shivraj Patil and were taken into preventive custody by police, officials said.Addressing the party activists, Chandigarh unit president Sanjay Tandon said the Centre "has totally failed to control the unprecedented price hike and curb the black marketing and illegal hoarding of essential commodities".
