BJP MLAs today wore black badges in the Jharkhand Assembly in protest against the police action against party activists and leaders during their demonstration near the assembly yesterday. They, however, took off the badges on the request of Speaker Shashank Sekhar Bhokta.

Informing the House that three of their activists had died and 34 others were injured in a road accident while they were returning home after the demonstration yesterday, senior party leader and former deputy Chief Minister Raghuvar Das demanded compensation from the government to the families of the deceased. The Speaker also backed Das' demand and asked the government to look into it.

BJP activists and leaders yesterday demonstrated near Jharkhand Assembly against alleged misgovernance and deteriorating law and order situation in the state following which police fired tear gas shells and used water cannons to disperse them.
