Unnao rape case: BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengal remanded to CBI custody for another week

The CBI remand for the arrested accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar was extended for another week till April 27 by the POCSO Court Unnao on Friday evening.

In a surprise move, the investigating agency produced Sengar before the Special Judge POCSO Court no 10 in Unnao district and sought his remand. The CBI remand of the BJP MLA, who is facing charges under Sections 3 and 4 of the POCSO Court, was ending on Saturday at 10 am.

The Special POCSO Judge Ashutosh Kumar accepted the CBI’s application and plea for his further interrogation and gave a week’s remand to the agency till April 27 10 am. Soon after getting his remand from the POCSO Court, the CBI sleuths took Sengar to some unknown destination for further interrogation.

Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh government withdrew the 'Y' category security cover of rape accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar.

The Bangarmau MLA from Unnao district enjoyed 'Y' category security which has a security cover of 11 personnel, including one or two commando and police personnel.

The MLA, who was arrested by the CBI this week in connection with the alleged rape of 18-year-old-girl in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao district, is currently in the custody of the agency.

The CBI, which is probing the case, has registered three cases against Sengar in regard to the crime he allegedly committed last year.

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Police had charged him under sections 363 (kidnapping), 366 (abduction of woman), 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and handed over the case to the CBI.
