BJP today demanded Rs5 lakh compensation to each to the kins of farmers in Orissa who allegedly committed suicide due to crop loss and loan burden.
Seking loan waiver for untimely rain-hit farmers in Orissa, BJP today demanded Rs5 lakh compensation to each to the kins of farmers who allegedly committed suicide due to crop loss and loan burden.
"We demand a compensation of Rs20,000 per acre of crop loss," party's state unit president Jual Oram said.
Stating that the party's two-day state executive meeting would take a political resolution tomorrow, Oram demanded a white paper on the situation arising out of the unseasonal rain.
The party also demanded regulation on mushrooming of micro-finance institutions in the state.
