"Our online membership drive has touched the figure of one crore members. Gujarat is the second state to cross the figure of one crore membership after Uttar Pradesh," MP and in-charge of enrolment drive Mansukh Mandavia said, adding that Gujarat is smaller than Uttar Pradesh in size and population.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given us a call to have 200 primary members of the party per booth. In Gujarat, by achieving the one crore target, we would have 220 primary members per booth," Mandavia said.

BJP workers across the state celebrated their party emerging as the largest party in the world with a membership strength of 8.8 crores, surpassing the Communist Party of China which has 8.6 crore members, by bursting crackers and distributing sweets.
