"We aim to turn our party into the world's biggest political outfit. Under our ambitious plan, 1.60 crore people have joined the party and this count would witness an upswing in the days to come," BJP secretary and membership drive joint in-charge Arun Singh told reporters.

He said that the saffron party's membership was merely four lakh earlier in a state like West Bengal, which has now swelled to a 12 lakh membership. Calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi as one of the biggest leaders in the world, Singh said prices of petrol, diesel and other essential commodities went down in the last six months in India.

At a BJP event, Madhya Pradesh BJP's organisational general secretary Arvind Menon said that party has set a target of enrolling two crore members in the state, between December 25 and March 31, under a special membership drive.
