With the BJP set for an impressive win in the Karnataka assembly election, a senior Congress leader has once again raked up the issue of  potential malpractices in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

Congress leader Mohan Prakash said that when all parties are doubting EVMs then what problem does the BJP have in conducting polls through a ballot.

The BJP appeared headed for a simple majority with its candidates leading in 110 constituencies, leaving the ruling Congress way behind, according to the latest trends available for 220 of the state's 222 seats where polling was held.

The Congress is set to face severe drubbing despite polling 38% votes against the BJP's 37.2%.

"I am saying it from day 1, there is no political party in India which has not raised questions on EVMs, even BJP has done it in the past," said Congress leader with the ruling Congress heading to a major debacle."People are voting for one party but votes are going to another because the situation in Karnataka was clearly different," he told ANI.

Meanwhile, BJP described the victory as an endorsement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's development agenda and claimed that people have rejected divisive, toxic and negative agenda of the Congress.Union Minister Prakash Javadekar who was also in charge of the state's election, said the BJP won because it is a party of the masses while the Congress is a party of a dynasty."This is a victory of Modi and party president Amit Shah's strategy," he said.
