BJP accuses Congress of becoming 'intolerant and frustrated'
'An intolerance and frustration is developing in the Congress due to its failure on the issues of terrorism, price rise, nuclear liability bill and diplomacy,' said BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy.
BJP today accused the Congress of becoming intolerant and frustrated due to it "failure" to face challenges like price rise and terrorism and alleged this attitude was reminiscent of Emergency days and has come at the "behest of Sonia Gandhi"."An intolerance and frustration is developing in the Congress due to its failure on the issues of terrorism, price rise, international relations, nuclear liability bill and diplomacy," BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said.He alleged that Congress spokespersons, at the behest of the top leadership of their party, were making statements against Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi and filmstar Amitabh Bachchan to hide the failures of the government.
"Congress attitude is reminding us of the Emergency. In a democracy we can have political adversaries. But today Congress is treating its adversaries as enemies. Seeking to draw a comparison between the recent Congressonslaught against Bachchan with the ban on artistes and moviesduring the Emergency, Rudy cited a White Paper on "Misuse ofMass Media During Internal Emergency" released in August 1977by the government on the movies banned during the Emergency.The list includes Bachchan's Sholay, and other controversial movies likes 'Aandhi', 'Kissa Kursi Ka' and 'All the President's Men'."Jagdish Tytler, who was then the Youth Congress president, got all songs of Kishore Kumar banned in All India Radio," Rudy said.BJP has been very vocal in defending Modi and Bachchan from Congress attacks in the controversy surrounding the latter's presence at the inauguration of Bandra-Worli Sealink last week and related issues."Bachchan is a superstar, a megastar as well as the brandambassador of Gujarat. He is above all controversies. Hedeserves the highest respect," Rudy said. When asked if therewas any politics behind BJP defending Bachchan, he said,"Calling a spade, a spade is not politics."
