According to a Hindustan Times report the case was registered on the basis of a complaint filed by the middle-aged woman of the Bela Baiju village under Patahi police station of the district on 15th March 2017.

However, the boy's father said to the daily that  the woman had lodged the complaint merely to save her husband, who was earlier booked under Sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 379 of IPC and SC/ST Atrocities Act for an incident in which the father sustained serious head injuries.

“The woman has instituted the case at the instigation of village head Sunil Kumar, who is an accused in the case along with her husband. Inspector Kanaiya Prasad, posted as station house officer at Patahi is persistently putting pressure on me to withdraw the case,” the boy’s father said to HT.

The little boy's father alleges that the inspector had threatened him to withdraw the case adding that the police are wrongfully incriminating his son.

“The mere sight of policemen evokes fear in my son. The panic-stricken boy has been spending sleepless nights for over a month,” said the father.

The minor boy has been receiving threats from the police inspector to surrender since the case was registered and is traumatised.
