Bihar shocker: Dalit minor raped woman constable molested in Patna

A day after the JDU-RJD alliance was voted to power, a 12 year-old Dalit girl was raped in the vicinity of the District Magistrate's office in Patna, reports a leading English daily. A woman constable was molested near Alamganj court in Patna city on Monday night.

The incidents come after an intense battle of words preluding the Bihar assembly elections. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) though lost the polls, it had led a vigorous campaign against the grand alliance led by Nitish Kumar of the Janata Dal United (JDU) and  Lalu Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) saying a 'Jungle Raj' would return.

The sexual harassment issues could be a point that the NDA may use to hit out the grand alliance.

According to the rape survivor's brother the minor had gone to buy milk from Bakaranj around 8.00 pm on Monday. Three youths who live close to the rape survivor's house chased er on foot and took her to the ADM office. One guy identified as Sonu raped her. "She narrated her ordeal to family members on returning home," the brother said.

Patna SSP said the police has lodged an FIR under various sections of IPC and SC/ST.

In another case of sexual assault, a Bihar military police (BMP) constable was molested by two men when she was coming back to her base camp at the Government Girls' School in Alamganj locality. The woman resisted but the miscreants hit her with pistol butt.
