A day after ousted Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) president Ashok Choudhary blamed senior Congress leader and Bihar in-charge CP Joshi for the current crisis in the party, senior party functionary Premchand Mishra alleged irregularities in the membership drive during Choudhary’s tenure.

“In the organisational polls held during Choudhary’s presidential term, it has been shown that 16 lakh new people have joined the party, for which a total of Rs 80 lakh (@Rs 5 per member) was deposited. However, on scrutiny of documents, joining papers for only 4.70 lakh members could be found. Where are the papers for the rest 11.30 lakh members as claimed?” Mishra asked.
