In the run-up to the crucial 2019 general elections, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of the BJP, will reach out to youth from across the country through a massive video conference.

According to sources, BJYM national president Poonam Mahajan will address as many as 200 locations across the country via video conference on January 17 from the mountain town of Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh — near the India's border with China and Bhutan where the minimum temperature dips to as low as -7 to -10 degree Celsius. This is said to the largest-ever youth outreach programme done by any political party through the use of technology.

BJYM sources said a total of 50,000 youth volunteers will join the video conference from all these 200 locations. There will be 20 locations identified for two-way interactions, which includes Leh in Jammu & Kashmir, Wagah in Punjab, Kutch in Gujarat, Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, Darjeeling in West Bengal, Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, Bastar in Chhattisgarh where the youth volunteers will ask questions to the BJYM national president.

Sources said the BJYM is roping in youth volunteers for the programme. The volunteers will join the outreach programme by wearing NaMo branded t-shirts and caps, sources said. The programme will be telecast on various social media platforms.

On January 17, Mahajan will formally launch the BJYM's Vijay Lakshya (Victory Target) 2019 campaign which will add muscle to the BJP's masterplan to ensure a victory in 2019.

Sources said that during interaction via video conferencing, Mahajan will discuss various policy initiatives brought in by the Modi government and why they should vote back the BJP in 2019 general elections. BJP MPs, MLAs from respective representatives will be present at the event, sources say.

"The Vijay Lakshya 2019 campaign will be a call to action for young Indians to come together and support Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP in its vision, mission and development agenda," said Mahajan.

For the 2019 elections, the BJP is targeting the youth, first time voters and millennial voters in a big way. According to an estimate, there are 15+ crore first time voters in this general election.

The BJYM has launched a massive drive to connect with the first-time voters by asking them why they should give the first vote of their life to Prime Minister Modi.

The BJYM has planned as many as 17 programmes to reach out to the youth across the country.

The BJP's youth wing will also organise Vijay Lakshya Yuva Sammelan from February 1 to 15 to mobilise the youth in the run up to the 2019 elections.
