Bengaluru: Cabbie assaulted by three for not being able to speak in Hindi

A cab drive in Bengaluru was beaten up by a group of three men after they got into an argument over his inability to speak in Hindi, the New Indian Express reported. The three men, who work for a private firm, have been arrested.

A cab drive in Bengaluru was beaten up by a group of three men after they got into an argument over his inability to speak in Hindi, the New Indian Express reported. The three men, who work for a private firm, have been arrested.

The incident took place on Saturday night when Jagdish, the driver, was on a night shift and went to pick up the accused, identified as Param, from Hebbal junction. Param had reportedly mentioned a location near his residence as his drop-off point. 

Along the way, Param demanded that he be dropped at the exact location and began arguing with Jagdish in Hindi. However, the driver did not speak the language and responed in Kannada. The accused then called two of his friends who reached the spot and assaulted the driver.

The driver then approached the police and gave video footage of the incident as evidence. Param and his accomplice were arrested. While Param hails from Himachal, his accomplice, identified only as Thakur, hails from Delhi.
