KOLKATA: Eminent Bengali film producer Parimal Sarkar died in a nursing home in Howrah on Tuesday. He was 83 and passed away due to old age.

A bachelor, Sarkar was a producer, distributor and exhibitor and had produced a number of Bengali films including Badhu, Mahatirtha Kalighat, Sabitri Satyaban, Nyaydanda, Nirjan Saikete, Dui Bari and the Uttam Kumar-Suchitra starrer Uttar Megh.

A popular name in the Bengali film fraternity, Sarkar was the president of the Eastern India Motion Pictures Association (EIMPA) for four successive terms.
