State BJP will resort to "law violation programmes" on January 3 to protest what they call "murder of democracy" in West Bengal.

"The decision is in the wake of the prevailing misrule of the present dispensation and the way the TMC government is encroaching upon others' democratic rights. Party workers from across the state will converge in Kolkata to partake in the programme and later accept arrest," party national secretary and former BJP state president Rahul Sinha told reporters here on Tuesday.

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister AB Vajpayee, who was known for his farmer-friendly policies, Sinha said they would initiate Kisan Sampark Abhiyan in West Bengal, a movement to create and connect with the farmers of the state because a majority of the farmers were suffering under the West Bengal government.

"What Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is doing in the name of welfare of farmers now is an eyewash. Middlemen have made a lot of money in this state whereas farmers have not got any fair price for their produce," Sinha alleged.
