A Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) commander was on Monday killed in an encounter between terrorists and security forces in Ladoora area of Baramulla district of Kashmir.

The JeM Operational Head has been identified as Khalid.

Khalid is believed to have trained and infiltrated from Pakistan and was active in North Kashmir’s Sopore area. His name had cropped up for the first time in October 2016, when the Army busted a JeM module in Baramulla. 

Security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in Ladoora area following information about the presence of militants in the area.

Meanwhile, an Army soldier was killed in a brief encounter with militants.

The slain soldier has been identified as Subedar Raj Kumar.
