The Bar Council of Gujarat (BCG) held a special hearing of cases against lawyers under the guidance of the delegates of the Bar Council of India. The delegates were in the city to attend Gujarat National Law University’s (GNLU) moot court competition in Gandhinagar.

“We have held special hearing of 44 cases against lawyers as the delegates of the BCI visited our office on Saturday,” said Anil Kella, chairman of the BCG executive committee.  “The members also delivered their judgment in nine cases,” Kella said.  Large number of lawyers and visitors came to the office of the BCG at Sola to attend the hearing.  It is pertinent to note that a litigant can file complaint in BCG against the professional misconduct of lawyers. The BCG has wide power to suspend the license of a lawyer.
