Alert security forces on Friday foiled a bid by two terrorists to loot a branch of the Jammu and Kashmir Bank (JK Bank) here. One terrorist was arrested, while the other managed to flee.

The incident happened when the bank's Mehandi Kadal branch employees had gone to offer Friday prayers and the branch appeared to be closed.

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel deployed at the branch told ANI that when he along with a head constable of J&K Police (JKP) were guarding the bank, the two terrorists approached the bank, and asked, "Is the bank closed?"

"When we answered that it would be opened soon, one of the terrorists pulled out a pistol and fired a single shot at the constable but missed as the alert constable pushed him and he fell down. While I caught the other, the militant who had opened the fire managed to flee," said the CRPF official.

The JKP constable sustained bullet injury on his right hand.

Nearby stationed CRPF personnel immediately secured the area.
