Kanpur resident and a mechanic with PWD Rakesh Sharma could not be any happier. After all, his son Ayush Sharma is one of the three Indians who are selected for Massachusetts Institute of Technology this year .

Anyone who knew Ayush, a class XII student of Kendriya Vidyalaya of IIT Kanpur, had no doubt that the young mind will be able to achieve great heights,

Studying in the IIT campus, Ayush came across 'Avanti', a coaching programme run by IIT students and alumnus for children from lower income group. With his efforts and help from 'Avanti', Ayush got selected for Yale University's Global Scholars Programme last year.

Ayush crowd-funded his trip to the prestigious Ivy School and he had already gotten a full tuition waiver from Yale. For his trip to MIT in September he intends to do the same.

Son of Maju Lata Sharma, a retired constable with the Central Reserve Police Force, Ayush knows the importance of support from his parents and mentors. He wants to pay back the favour.
