Ayodhya: Shivraj Singh Chouhan reserves day to monitor security system in Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has put aside all his engagements for the day to monitor preparations on security arrangements in the state in wake of the impending Ayodhya verdict.

"Chouhan has reserved the full day today. He will meet state chief secretary Avani Vaish and director general of police, Santosh Kumar Raut to discuss various steps taken by them to maintain law and order situation in various districts of the state," said officials at the CM's residence.

The chief minister has also called a meeting of all the seven MLAs in the city, Bhopal mayor Krishna Gaur, all religious heads and other representatives at his official residence to chalk out measures to maintain peace and communal harmony in the state, they said.

Madhya Pradesh police has appealed to people not to heed to any rumour and sought their co-operation for amity in the state. It also asked people to immediately report to police control room if they receive any inciting message on their cellphones.

Two such cases were registered in Indore yesterday and a person was arrested in this regard.

Meanwhile, the Barkatullah University in Bhopal has cancelled examinations for Bachelor of Physical Education and Bachelor of Business Administration in view of the Ayodhya title suits judgement slated to be pronounced on September 24.

However, exams for Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) course remained on schedule, which is causing worry among students.

A delegation of BUMS students and their guardians today addressed the matter to University vice-chancellor Nisha Dubey requesting her to cancel the exams and declare fresh dates to instill a sense of security in them.
