Ayodhya Deepotsav 2020: Schedule for grand Diwali celebrations in temple town

Several people on Thursday decorated the venue with diyas, paintings and rangolis for ‘Deepotsav. This year 5.51 lakh earthen lamps would be lit at Ram ki Paidi ghats.

Preparations are underway for this year's ‘Deepotsav’ celebrations at the Ram ki Paidi in Ayodhya, in strict compliance with the coronavirus guidelines. Several people on Thursday decorated the venue with diyas, paintings and rangolis for ‘Deepotsav’. This year 5.51 lakh earthen lamps would be lit at Ram ki Paidi ghats.

‘It is the fourth ‘Deepotsav’ organised by the government of Uttar Pradesh in Ayodhya. Hassan Ali, a local artist at the venue said, "We have come here to celebrate Deepotsav. I like working here. I have designed several jhankis (tableaus)."

A local painter said, "I have painted all the tableaus with bright colours. We are being paid for our work. We feel happy working for this event."

More than 100 workers dedicated to the preparation of 11 tableaus. Colourful tableau and various traditional dances are performed at the Shobha Yatra.

The yatra will be followed by the Deepotsav on the Ram Janmabhoomi site."As per the directions of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deepotsav 2020 that will be held in Ayodhya, there are arrangements for virtual Deepotsav.

Ayodhya Deepotsav 2020 programme schedule:

(a) 11 tableaux based on Lord Shri Ram's biography will leave Saket College at 11 am and will arrive at Ram Katha Park.

(b) CM Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel will reach Ayodhya airport at 3 pm.

(c) CM Yogi and Governor Anandi Patel will leave to worship Ramlala in the Ram Janmabhoomi complex in Ayodhya. They will light the first diya in front of Ramlala.

(d) They will then leave for Ram Katha Park from Ram Janmabhoomi complex at 3:50 pm. CM Yogi Adityanath will address the public from there.

(e)  6-7 pm: CM Yogi Governor Anandiben Patel will arrive at Saryu Aarti Ghat. Aarti will be performed for Maa Saryu. After Aarti, Deepotsav will be inaugurated on Ram ki Paidi ghats. There will be  laser show, lighting of 5,51,000 lamps and a cultural programme.

f) Ramlila overview at Ramkatha Park at 7:20 pm.

(g) Then they will arrive at the Circuit House at 8:20 pm, will stay overnight there and leave for Gorakhpur on the morning of November 14.
