As the second wave of coronavirus hits the country, several videos are being shared on Twitter to spread misinformation among the people. The Central Railway has appealed to everyone to avoid sharing old and fake videos and follow COVID19 appropriate behaviour.

"Some old videos showing the crowd at various stations are making rounds in social media.  Some news reports also falsely mention that there is a mass movement of people. We appeal everyone to avoid sharing such videos. People are requested not to believe in such rumours," a statement from the Railways said.

Through a virtual press conference, Sanjeev Mittal, General Manager, Central Railway, appealed to everyone that any speculation about the same should be avoided in such challenging circumstances of coronavirus.

He also informed that for the convenience of passengers, Railways runs more trains in summer and adequate tickets are available as only passengers having confirmed tickets are being permitted to board the trains.

"Passengers are advised to adhere to all norms, SOPs related to COVID19 during the boarding, travel and at the destination," he added.

Meanwhile, with a view to preventing the spread of COVID-19, the Railway Administration has decided to stop issuing platform tickets at some stations of the Mumbai Division, including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Kalyan, Thane, Dadar and Panvel stations.

In line with this, the Western Railway has also stopped issuing platform tickets with immediate effect. Entry at the stations is now restricted only for passengers with confirmed tickets.
