After the accident, Vastrapur police arrested Labdhi Shah based on the complaint filed by the rickshaw driver Ajay Janjade, 29, who escaped with minor injuries. However, after filing the compliant, Janjade mysteriously disappeared with his auto. After the notification of the DGP, who ordered a fresh probe into the case, Vastrapur police started searching the auto and Janjade. They  finally found the auto near a slum area of Sanjaynagar in Ghatlodia on Friday and took custody of the wrecked vehicle. Many believe that Janjade disappeared due to pressure brought on him.

According to M R Sharma, Sr. police inspector of Vastrapur, the rickshaw was there already and it was just brought to the police station.
