When Solanki reached the gate, Laxman Zala, the security guard, stopped him and asked him to open the dickey of his scooter. Zala found some medicine boxes and syringes there.

After the discovery of the stolen medicines, Solanki was handed over to the Vastrapur police, where he admitted to have stolen the medicines on March 3 from the hospital's operation theatre.

According to Solanki, he is paid Rs5,000 as salary. He has to spend a big part of it for the treatment of his ailing wife, who is suffering from diabetes. To make both ends meet, he stole the medicine boxes and syringes on March 3 and tried to sell them to a medical shop the same day. However, the shop owner refused to buy them without any bills. Since then the medicines were lying inside his dickey.
