Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold an election rally in Karimganj of the Barak Valley in Assam on Sunday. Before coming to the Barak Valley, he will also address a rally in Rangapara in Sonitpur district.

Barak Valley is very crucial for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) because it is contesting alone on all the 15 seats of valley. The valley will go to the poll in the first phase on April 4.

This will be Prime Minister Modi's first visit to Barak Valley since becoming the Prime Minister. He had addressed a rally at Ramnagar in Cachar district in 2014 during the Lok Sabha election campaign.

The Prime Minister will be accompanied by all the 15 BJP candidates of the Barak Valley and some senior leaders.

Adequate security arrangements have been made to avoid any untoward incident.

The Election Commission has announced two-phase voting for the 14th Assam assembly elections on April 4 and 11. The votes will be counted on May 19.
