AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal today hit out at officials for their alleged failure to take any action in connection with the Bhagana rape case even as he called for CBI to be handed over the inquiry into the matter.
AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal today hit out at officials for their alleged failure to take any action in connection with the Bhagana rape case even as he called for CBI to be handed over the inquiry into the matter.
Kejriwal met the the alleged victims of the Bhagana rape case today at Jantar Mantar here where they have been holding a protest against the government's alleged inaction over their complaint.
Demanding the arrest of the Khap Panchayat members who are alleged to have been involved in the case, Kejriwal said, "No action has been taken against the village head even after an FIR was registered. The government has turned a deaf ear to them and is not taking any step against the guilty.
"Authorities should immediately arrest the culprits and hand over the case to CBI."
AAP claimed that although women were being raped and Dalits harassed by Khap Panchayat members in Haryana's Bhagana, no action had been taken against the culprits.
Along with AAP's in-charge for Haryana, Yogendra Yadav, Kejriwal demanded a probe under the SC/ST Act into the complaints by the protesters.
Kejriwal added that he would write to Congress President Sonia Gandhi on the issue.
