The tea garden labourers were on way to Margherita in neighbouring Assam from Changlang, the district headquarters, when the mishap occurred a few kilometres from the headquarter town at around 5.30 PM, SP Amit Sharma said.

While four died on the spot, one succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital, the SP said. All the 14 injured were admitted at district hospital Changlang.

The accident is believed to have been caused by technical snag in the vehicle, Sharma added.
