The police yesterday arrested five officials of the Agriculture department -- Birendra Nath Sarma, Lankeswar Gam, Dilip Baruah, Rohit Bharali and Ranbir Kakati.

The Assam Public Works (APW), publicity secretary Rajib Deka demanded that the police complete the investigation at the earliest so that the others allegedly involved in the scam are also booked.

Deka claimed that he had filed a case on behalf of APW on September one, 2014 with the CID and later went to the court of the Special Judge in connection with an alleged scam by the department in the implementation of Rastriya Krishi Yikash Yojana (RKVY) and Bring Green Revolution In Eastern India (BGREI).
