Army neutralizes two terrorists in J&K's Shopian, one jawan martyred

Two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed and an army soldier was martyred in an encounter that took place in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district on Wednesday. Two other security personnel were injured in the encounter, officials said. According to the army, one of the slain terrorists was involved in the recent killing of a man who hailed from the Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.

After receiving information about the presence of terrorists in the area, the security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Dargad area of ​​Shopian district. Officials said that the terrorists started firing after which the security personnel had to retaliate. Two terrorists of The Resistance Front (TRF), a front organization of Lashkar-e-Taiba, have been killed. Three security personnel were injured in this operation. One of them later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital located here, officials said.

One of the slain terrorists has been identified as Adil Wani, who joined the terror outfit in 2020. Kashmir Zone Police IG Vijay Kumar said in a tweet, “One terrorist killed has been identified as Adil Ahmed Wani who was active since July 2020. So far 15 terrorists have been killed in two weeks. Kumar said Wani was involved in the murder of Sagir Ahmed, a resident of Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh.
