A joint team of Army and police today launched a search and combing operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district, officials said.

Acting on reports that suspected militants are threatening villagers in Birpur-Purmandal forest belt of the district, about 40 km from Jammu, the security personnel launched the operation, they said.

However, the security forces did not find presence of any suspected persons in the area, they said, adding that the area is still been put under cordon.

According to villagers, two armed persons in Army combat dress are threatening to kill them for some time following which they reported the matter to police.
