Army chief General Deepak Kapoor today met prime minister Manmohan Singh ahead of his retirement on March 31.
            During the meeting, which lasted a few minutes, the Army chief is said to have discussed the security scenario in the country and the present situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the Northeastern States, Army sources said here.
            He also thanked the government for supporting the Army during his tenure as its chief, they added.
            Kapoor will retire on March 31 and handover the charge to Eastern Army Commander Lt Gen VK Singh on April 1.
