Army Chief Gen VK Singh today arrived on a two-day visit to the Western Command at Chandimandir cantonment near here to review its operational preparedness.

This is Gen Singh's first visit to the Command after assuming office as the Army Chief, a defence release said here.

Gen Singh will address all officers of Western Command at an interactive programme during the visit and will be briefed by Lt Gen SR Ghosh, GOC-in-Command Western Command about the training and administrative matters.

He will also hold a meeting with the Army veterans, who reside in large numbers in Panchkula, Chandigarh and Mohali.

The Army Chief, who is accompanied by his wife Bharti Singh, President Army Family Welfare Organisation, will also make a courtesy call to the Governors and chief ministers of Punjab and Haryana during his visit.
