Anti-naxal operations will continue in Jharkhand: Governor

Two days after Jharkhand was brought under the president's rule, its governor MOH Farook today said there will be no laxity in anti-Naxal operations and they will continue."There will be no laxity in (anti) Naxal operations.... they will continue," he told reporters after a meeting with home minister P Chidambaram here.There have been allegations that former chief minister Shibu Soren was going slow against the Maoists during his tenure. Soren also skipped a meeting of chief ministers convened by Chidambaram in Kolkata on February 9, triggering speculation.During his 20-minute meeting with the home minister, Farook is understood to have discussed and briefed him about the political and security situation in Jharkhand.Sources said Farook also discussed the welfare schemesand how to accelerate them in the state besides discussing theissue of appointment of advisers for him.Asked whether there would be any change in anti-Maoist strategy, the governor said "officers in the field will decide that".Jhakhand has been brought under president's rule on Tuesday as no party or alliance was in a position to form a government in the state after weeks of political drama.
