The anti-BJP front’s common minimum programme (CMP) mainly focuses on holistic agricultural development, job creation, establishment of National Commission for Education and combating cross border terrorism.

The draft will be presented by Congress president Rahul Gandhi to other members of the anti-BJP front at a meeting on February 26 in New Delhi. The minimum income guarantee (MIG) scheme for poor will find place in the CMP with an assurance to mop up funds from those spent on food subsidies and other programmes. The idea is an extension of the MNREGA that ensured 100 days’ job to every person.

According to the Congress leader, MIG will provide direct cash transfers to eligible households.

The strategy will be put in place for India to again achieve double digit growth.

A veteran Congress MP on the condition of anonymity said, “Political parties in the anti-BJP front are aware that loan waiver will not be the sole solution to turn around the Indian agriculture. Therefore, a strategy for comprehensive and integrated farm growth with an emphasis on crop pattern change, promotion of food processing and cold chain, proper water utilisation and payment of minimum support price is important.’’ He informed that cooperative banking sector, which was adversely impacted following demonetization will be revived.

Additionally, the National Education Commission popularly known as Kothari Commission set up in 1964, will be revived to take comprehensive review of education system and introduce suitable changes in the present cybernetic age.

The cooperative federalism and doing away with all instruments that have created intolerant atmosphere will be given due emphasis. The objective will be to ensure security of life and protection of all individuals and all sections of power during the new regime.
