Another 'Burari' in Mumbai: Teen dies while attempting astral travel

A minor girl has allegedly committed suicide in her attempt of astral travelling in Bhoiwada area of Mumbai’s Parel, according to Zee News sources. 

The deceased was identified as Shravanani. As per the deceased family, Shravanani was watching videos related to astral travelling on YouTube for the past couple of days. 

They added that she had earlier attempted similar act, however, was saved. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.

The police have found some videos related to Astral Travel on the victims’s phone.

The incident brings back the memories of the Burari case in Delhi last year where 11 members of a family were found dead in their house. Ten of the 11 members of the ill-fated family were found hanging from an iron-mesh of the ceiling on July 1, while the body of 77-year-old family matriarch Narayan Devi was lying on the floor in another room of the house. 

Police had found 11 diaries which had "psychological musings" and writings about attaining "road to God".

What is Astral travel?

Astral travelling, or astral projection, refers to a wilful out-of-body experience, during which one’s soul separates from the physical body and traverses the astral plane with intention. People often experience this state during illness or when involved in a near death experience. While it is said that it is possible to practice astral projection at will, however, no such incidence has been officially reported till date.
