Senior Congress leader in Andhra Pradesh Srirangam Gopal died after a brief illness last night at a corporate hospital here, family sources said.

He was 68 and survived by three brothers.

Gopal, a bachelor, was Charmain of the Andhra Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.

He was appointed to the post during the Government of late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy and he was serving his third term.

Several Congress leaders, including Chief Minister Kiran Reddy and Government Whip Dronamraju Srinivas and trade union leaders condoled the death of Gopal.
