Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and AICC president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi on Saturday.

Rosaiah's trip assumes significance as it will be his first visit to the national Capital after assuming charge as chief minister on September 3 following the death of YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

The senior Congress leader, who will reach New Delhi tomorrow evening, is expected to discuss with Sonia Gandhi the current political scenario in the state, the prospects of the ruling party in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections and also the issue of convening the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting to elect its leader.

Though Rosaiah has been continuing as the Chief Minister in the aftermath of Rajasekhara Reddy’s demise, the CLP is yet to elect its new leader and the party high command too has remained evasive on the issue.

Rosaiah is likely to talk over the issue with Sonia and secure her nod for convening the CLP meet and complete the 'formality' of electing its leader, sources close to the Chief Minister said. This will put to rest firmly the succession issue in the state, they said.
