After sealing its alliance with Shiva Sena in Maharashtra, BJP president Amit Shah is all set to announce its rainbow alliance comprising of AIADMK, PMK and DMDK in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday.

Sources in BJP said that party president Amit Shah and party’s Tamil Nadu election in-charge Piyush Goyal would be visiting Tamil Nadu to finalise the alliance with the ruling AIADMK which swept the 2014 Lok Sabha polls in the state by winning 37 out of the 39 seats on its own.

Shah would formally induct the ruling AIADMK into the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) fold and declare the seat-sharing arrangement, sources said.

BJP has been trying hard to float formidable alliance to take on the DMK-Congress combine in the state. While BJP is expected to rope in AIADMK, Vijayakanth’s DMDK, Dalit party Puthiya Tamilagam and a couple of minor parties, Ramadoss’s PMK have been holding talks with both the AIADMK and DMK bargaining for more seats.

Sources said that BJP is likely to get eight seats and it would allocate three seats from its share to its allies – Puthiya Tamilagam, Indiya Janayaga Katchi and educationist AC Shanmugham’s New Justice Party.

PMK is likely to get five LS seats and one Rajya Sabha seat, while DMDK would get three seats. The AIADMK would contest in 23 seats. The lone Puducherry LS seat would be given to NR Congress.

AIADMK coordinator and Tamil Nadu deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam has written to Justice Arumughasamy Commission which is probing the circumstances leading to former chief minister J Jayalalithaa's death stating his inability to appear before it on Tuesday citing some pressing commitments.

“In one or two days, we will formally announce the mega-alliance headed by AIDMK,” Panneerselvam told reporters when asked Shah’s visit to the state on Tuesday. AIADMK sources said that Shah would have a meeting with chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Panneerselvam before announcing the alliance.

On February 14 , BJP's Tamil Nadu election in-charge Piyush Goyal formally commenced alliance talks with the AIADMK. The three-hour meeting that went past midnight took place at industrialist Mahalingam Ponnusamy's home.

DMK has formed an alliance comprising of Congress, CPI (M), CPI, Vaiko’s MDMK, IUML, Thirumavalavan’s Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi and Manithaneya Makkal Katchi.
