The chief executive of St. Jude Medical, Daniel Starks, has been released after being arrested by airport police in New Delhi for possession of ammunition, the medical device maker said on Thursday."Mr. Starks is respectful of the local process and has decided to remain in India until this misunderstanding is completely cleared up," a St. Jude spokesperson said in a statement.Starks was detained on Wednesday after "a single shell was inadvertently left in an item of his clothing and discovered when he was traveling through the New Delhi airport," the company said in an earlier statement.No further details were immediately available. Starks has been CEO of St. Jude since May 2004.
