Alpavirama will showcase NID’s film and video department
'Alpavirama', a film festival, to promote the meaningfulness of NID's Film & Video department, will be held in February 2011. The department has been around for over 25 years in the city.

'Alpavirama', a film festival, to promote the meaningfulness of NID's Film & Video department, will be held in February 2011. The department has been around for over 25 years in the city.
The aim of the festival is to felicitate NID's faculty under who has taught the students who have now turned into directors and film-makers.
Arun Gupta, senior faculty, Film & Video department and festival director has selected 16 films which will be shown during the festival. The movies have to be mandatorily shot in Ahmedabad and all have to capture and show the real essence of the city-life.
Films such as Listening to Shadows, Bannubhai Shehnaiwala and Purna Virama are few of the sixteen films short listed under the festival's Retrospective category that feature Ahmedabad city and its people.
The student directors of the films have taken help from the faculty members at NID.
"We will not showcase films on the basis of the categories but instead all the films of all categories will be showcased. Few of the categories are: special Hong Kong package, competition films and retrospective. This will entertain audience with films based on various issues.
